How to Run a Book Club
Scholastic Book Clubs are exclusively school-based clubs that offer teachers and parents an easy way to purchase the best children's books and interactive learning products at low prices. Plus, with each Club order, teachers can earn Bonus Coupons to use toward Free materials for their classrooms! Every monthly offer features something new, so make sure your students' parents know about the latest offers!
- Each month, you'll receive the Club flyers to hand out to students. Remove the catalogue's centre staples and distribute the individual flyers to students.
- Ask students to write their name on the order form right away. This will help them keep track of it and ensure that the name isn't missing when the order is handed in to you.
- Review the flyer with your class. You might find that more students will participate if you take the time to look over the flyer with them and encourage them to discuss the titles that interest them. Share recommendations, look for favourite authors and genres, or search for reading levels online!
- Make sure to set a deadline for returning order forms. Ask students to write the deadline on their flyers and keep the date on the blackboard or classroom calendar.
- Collect the order forms and money. Transfer the order onto the classroom order form within the glossy-paged section of your catalogue.
- Place your order via ClubsOnline, phone, fax or mail. Don't forget to hold on to the students' order forms to help you distribute the items when they arrive.
- If you need additional flyers or if you want to receive another club or catalogue, just phone 1-800-268-3860 or click here to Request a Catalogue.
